Last week I was
told by one of our pupils, when we were training the use of the Markusnet that his crew
had used the Markusnet to rescue the ship's dog which fell overboard.
"We were sailing when the dog fell
overboard. As we found out that the dog had fallen overboard, we slowed down as possible
by switching the gearbox to reverse and then we released the Markusnet out at the stern.
By its instinct, the dog had swam after the ship and when he reached the net structure, it
swam in to it and bit the net-structure so we were able to pull it to the ship and lift on
board with its legs in the meshes."
Comment from Hilmar: Isnīt this a nice
story. If a dog can do this a human should be able to do it. |
