Single handed man over board rescue with Markusnet

Based on real rescue story.

Always secure your way back on board before you consider to place yourself as single handed in-water rescuer. Be attached to the boat with safety line.

When the casualty is active in the rescue operation.

MSPost6.gif (26117 bytes) When the man overboard casualty is active in the rescue operation, the best way can be to lower the net as ladder and when the casualty has stepped into the net structure, the deck rescuer pulls him as high as possible and fastens lifting lines to the boat. The deck rescuer can then help the casualty as it climbs up the net.

When the casualty is unable to take part or is unconscious.

mssingl1.gif (39487 bytes) When the casualty is unable to take part or is unconscious, the rescue operation needs quick planning and action. As you recognize the need, 1) make the Markusnet ready at the side. 2) Fasten yourself to a safety line and 3.) put boom hook on the hoisting strap at the front end of the Markusnet. 4) Sail up to the casualty 5) ready to stop the engine before 6) you jump into the sea 7) holding one hand to the outer end of the net and grasping firmly the casualty with the other hand.
