the casualty is active in the rescue operation. |

When the man
overboard casualty is active in the rescue operation, the best way can be to lower the net
as ladder and when the casualty has stepped into the net structure, the deck rescuer pulls
him as high as possible and fastens lifting lines to the boat. The deck rescuer can then
help the casualty as it climbs up the net. |

When the
casualty is unable to take part or is unconscious, the rescue operation needs quick
planning and action. As you recognize the need, 1) make the Markusnet ready at the side.
2) Fasten yourself to a safety line and 3.) put boom hook on the hoisting strap at the
front end of the Markusnet. 4) Sail up to the casualty 5) ready to stop the engine before
6) you jump into the sea 7) holding one hand to the outer end of the net and grasping
firmly the casualty with the other hand. |
