Single handed in-water man over board rescue with Markusnet

Based on real rescue story.

Always secure your way back on board before you consider to place yourself as single handed in-water rescuer. Be attached to the boat with safety line.

When the casualty is unable to take part or is unconscious.

  1. Make the Markusnet ready at the side.
  2. Fasten yourself to a safety line and
  3. put boom hook on the hoisting strap at the front end of the Markusnet.
  4. Sail up to the casualty
  5. ready to stop the engine before
  6. you jump into the sea,

  1. holding one hand to the outer end of the net and grasping firmly the casualty with the other hand.
  2. Grasp firmly under the arm, pull the body into the net by pulling the float wire under the bottom of the casualty and
  3. fasten it in the net in sitting position with the snap hooks.

  1. . Then climb up the emergency ladder or the net.
  2. . As you have lifted the casualty over the realing let it lean on the back, bring it into warm place and keep it in horizontal position as long as possible.
